The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Interior said Wednesday (January 8) that the missiles that targeted a base hosting the US and coalition troops in Erbil caused “no damage or casualties.”

The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched a total of twenty-two of missiles against al-Asad airbase in Anbar province and the base on the outskirts of the Kurdistan Region’s capital. The Iraqi military, the US, and other coalition governments reported that they suffered no casualties.

Iran said that the attack was in response to a US drone strike that killed Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis in Baghdad on Friday.
